If you looking for the perfect device for mobile gaming in your life well you've come to the right place. We've put together a list of 2019's best smartphones for gaming. First, let's talk a little bit about the highlights and trends we saw this year from smartphone companies. One trend we've seen actually is more gaming phones coming out in the first place. A couple of years ago this was a total niche product but now more and more manufacturers are making phones aimed at the gamer crowd.
It's a smart idea as this market is definitely growing and has a lot of potentials to grow into something big. For example, 2019 saw the largest mobile game launch to date in Call of Duty mobile which had over 100 million downloads in its first week alone. It doesn't look like it's slowing down either.
Announcements for heavy-hitting gaming titles like the path of Exile mobile, diablo immortal and League of Legends mobile had many pretty excited about what the next year will bring. Beyond that game, streaming services like Google stadia and Microsoft's project X cloud are something to look out for in the future even if they're rough around the edges right now.
Let's go back to the mobile gaming hardware itself. We've seen more and more phones coming out with dedicated modes optimized performance for your games.
Many also have screens with high refresh rates that can support higher frame rates in-game as well as low touch latency for extra responsiveness. So with all that said let's get into the best gaming phones of 2019 in no particular order but stick around till the end for our editor's choice
- iPhone 11 :
First, we have the Apple iPhone 11. So the iPhone may not be what comes to your mind when you think gaming but it's actually a really capable device. It has apples super-powerful hardware, a large low latency screen, and above-average battery life.
With the iPhone 11 gets you the same gaming performance as the higher tear iPhone models but at a lower price so it turns its spot on this list.
Sure it is missing some of the bells and whistles of a more gaming-oriented phone and the LCD display on iPhone 11 has a normal refresh rate but you do get a huge selection of games on the Apple App Store including some exclusive titles.
- Oneplus 7t :
Like the iPhone 11, the Oneplus 7t isn't a dedicated gaming phone but it has certain features that make it really well-suited for this purpose. oneplus 7t packs the latest Snapdragon 855+ chip-set and it does a good job in handling its thermals to prevent throttling. On top of that, oneplus 7t brings an excellent AMOLED display with a fast 90 Hertz refresh rate that doesn't mean you should expect 90 FPS for your games. Though the Oneplus switches back to 60 Hertz for the majority of titles still just like the iPhone this is a really solid pick for someone who wants a normal-looking device with great gaming performance.
- Black Shark 2 :
The black shark to is a phone dedicated to gaming both in aesthetics and in performance as well. You get a big and beautiful OLED display with low touch latency and better battery life than other phones.Gaming with the optional gamepads feels good too and can give you the edge over your opponents in many situations.
There is also a pro version that upgrades to a newer snapdragon 855+ chip-set and gives you increased RAM and storage but otherwise, it's the same phone.
As far as downsize go the screen only has a 60 Hertz refresh rate and there's no 3.5-millimeter jack for headphones but the overall package is still one of our favorites.
- Nubia Red Magic 3 :
Like the black shark to the red magic 3 is a dedicated gaming phone and brings that cool gamer aesthetic. You get excellent battery life and the AMOLED screen has a 90 Hertz refresh rate on top of that the phone is really able to cut down on thermal throttling thanks to was a built-in fan. You can use shoulder triggers as extra input for your games especially handy for shooters in the games. There are separate controller accessories available too and there is a more advanced version of the Red Magic 3s which brings an upgraded Snapdragon 855+ chip-set.
You will find fault with the display which doesn't get very bright and there's no option to switch from 90 Hertz to 60. The single-camera is lackluster and the software has some strange translations to English but you still get great gaming experience.
Finally our editors choice pick for the best gaming phone of 2019 the Asus ROG phone 2
- Asus ROG Phone 2 :
Asus ROG phone - takes the crown here it has the industry's only 120 Hertz display which is quite responsive thanks to a low touch latency. The screen is quite bright, the sound is great as well although all of the phones on this list have stereo speakers the ones on the ROG phones are some of the best around.Like the red magic 3, this phone has shoulder triggers you can use for gaming but these air triggers give you extra functionality by recognizing swipes as well as tapping.
Battery life is excellent thanks to the 6,000 mah power pack battery and both peak and sustained performance are the best we've tasted yet from an Android phone especially if you attach the bundled cooling fan.
There is also support for a wide variety of optional accessories including several types of docs and a very capable game-pad controller. overall it seems like the perfect package for a dedicated gamer.
All we can really complain about is that the phone is a bit heavy and that it doesn't have water resistance.
So there you have it guys our picks for the best gaming phones of 2019.
